Today, millions of people are working and learning from home, transforming kitchen tables into classrooms and bedrooms into offices. In these environments, the need for simple, sustainable, and secure tools has never been more necessary.

With the recent roll out of HP+, HP looks to address these needs with a new printing solution made up of hardware, automatic ink and toner replacements, and a mobile app that delivers convenience and security. The suite of products, services, and exclusive solutions was created to simplify the lives of consumers as they continue to rise to the challenges of working and learning from home; and small businesses as they adapt and rebuild during the pandemic.

“HP+ is a fundamental shift in the printing experience,” said Tuan Tran, president of HP’s Imaging, Printing, and Solutions business. “We’ve put the best printing innovation together into one complete solution.”

That enhanced experience begins as soon as the new printer is removed from the box. The HP Smart App streamlines set-up, helps users connect easily to their wireless networks, and enables printing, scanning and faxing from virtually anywhere via their mobile devices.

HP+ printing solution was created to simplify the lives of consumers as they continue to rise to the challenges of working and learning from home; and small businesses as they adapt and rebuild during the pandemic.

When HP+ is activated, the HP Smart App also helps deliver peace of mind. According to Verizon’s 2020 Data Breach Investigations Report, more than a quarter of all data breaches perpetrated this year targeted SMBs. Within two months of the outbreak, 13% of small businesses reported that they had been victims of an attack. The security settings monitoring feature not only detect malware attacks, but can help stop them from occurring. Another feature, Private Pickup, ensures that confidential pages don’t print without the user being at the printer to pick them up.

In addition to security, HP+ is responding to the ongoing shift in shopping behavior that was only accelerated by the pandemic, as consumers do more of their buying online and through personalized subscription services. HP+ printers, which only use Original HP Ink and Toner, can sense when the printer is low when paired with an optional subscription to Instant Ink. Getting replacement cartridges becomes even more convenient because they're automatically shipped to users’ front doors. Plans start at $1.99 (USD) a month for toner and $.99 (USD) for ink and includes a six-month free trial with the purchase of an HP+ printer. The service makes recycling those cartridges just as easy. Replacement cartridges ship with a prepaid return envelope and are returned to an approved recycling facility.

Besides recycling of cartridges, HP+ ensures that every printed page is offset with investments that help protect and restore forests. The new Forest First feature extends HP’s commitment to zero deforestation printing to all paper, including non-HP branded paper.

HP+ currently available with three printers sold in the US at Staples stores: the LaserJet M200 Series, the HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 and the HP OfficeJet 9000 series. It will expand globally in 2021. Rtings.com ranked the HP OfficeJet 9000 series as its best choice for both family and small office/home office printers.

“As the return to work economy continues to rebuild, there’s no doubt that solutions like HP+ will help our small business customers remain connected and productive,” said Staples’ chief merchandising officer Peter Scala. “The same is true for those customers who will continue to work and learn remotely.”
